the foundings of sun + sea

Musing on the clifftops of West Penwith, I daydreamed of a space for me to share my art practice, paintings, and musings - a space for me to be true to myself and live life slowly as a nomadic artist.

When thinking of a name and visual identity to craft under, I felt a divine connection to Sun & Sea. Two of earths heavenly elements that co-exist and bring fruitful abundance to our existence.

Founded in August 2023

Sun & Sea is my visual identity, and a place for you to wonder, explore and view my art in all of its many forms.

This new identity reflects the many layers of who I’ve become—growing, learning, and evolving over time.

I am constantly changing, as is my art practice.

always an artist

I’ve always been an artist at heart, finding solace in creativity from a young age. Whether it was scribbling with Crayola in Nursery or playing around with Microsoft Paint in Primary, art brought me joy.

While academic subjects left me feeling drained, I found peace in art, photography, and textiles. Studying these to Foundation level allowed me to truly flourish—listening, learning, and daydreaming to my heart’s content..

In May 2020, after three wonderful years at Falmouth University, I proudly graduated with a degree in Textile Design.

During my studies, I discovered a love for screen printing, layering vibrant colours, and experimenting with fun, bold, offset shapes.

For my third year, I brought my dream of owning a physical shop to life with ‘Lion and Love,’ a boho pop-up inspired by the wild energy of the 60s, the free spirit of the 70s, and the jungle rave scene of the 90s.

summer

By the summer of 2020, in the midst of the world’s chaos, my career path vanished into thin air.

Amidst the uncertainty, I found peace in long, sun-drenched days.

With no place to be, I soaked up endless beach days with friends, salty swims in the azure, and al fresco dinners under the Cornish sun.

As September approached, I knew it was time to find my next adventure.

autumn

September arrived, and with it, a wave of uncertainty. I found myself lost, unsure of my direction or purpose. What did I truly want to do?

But then, one crisp October morning, everything shifted.

While strolling along the Falmouth coast path, I received a message from the universe.

It was as if a seed had quietly taken root within me—an idea blossomed to pursue a path as a self-employed artist, weaving together my love for screen printing and digital design.

November 2020

sustain studio

That very October day, I returned home brimming with excitement, ready to bring my dream of an eco-friendly art print shop to life.

The weeks that followed were filled with endless YouTube tutorials, Skillshare courses, and deep dives into marketing, branding, and social media.

By November 2020, I had turned my vision into reality.

Under the beautiful brand name 'Sustain Studio,' I officially launched online as a digital artist and art print studio.
